Detail
The Dove prism is a right-angled prism with an isosceles shape. The incident and exit surfaces of the prism are both rectangular and perpendicular to the base. When light enters from the rectangular surface, it undergoes a total reflection inside the prism and finally exits from the other rectangular surface. The direction of the outgoing light is parallel to the incoming light, but the image will be inverted by 180° (upside-down), and the direction of light propagation (the deflection angle) will not change (0°).
Its application fields include optical imaging and image adjustment such as telescopes, microscopes, projection and display systems, laser scanning systems, spectral analysis and instrument calibration, etc.
